Marc Jacobs Editorial Campaign with Miley Cyrus

The Campaign:

Miley Cyrus teamed up with Marc Jacobs this year starring as the face for his Spring Summer 2014 ad. It's Miley's first fashion campaign and is shot by David Sims and styled by Katie Grand. Set on a stormy sand dune, Miley stares moodily into the distance with her back to the ocean.

Marc Jacobs explained the campaign and said: 'We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark. We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything. There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.'

Miley said about the designer in an interview with Hunger Magazine: 'I work a lot with Marc Jacobs. He kind of brought me into fashion like when I was 16, that was when I started being around him and just learning from him. He kind of let me inspire some of his pieces and now I feel like it’s just having the right people around you.'

The Hair & Makeup:

Angsty and androgenous, Cyrus and the models have natural, semi-wet hair and luminous, glowing makeup! The Makeup Artist has used a light coloured foundation to create flawless skin and has contoured under the cheekbone, on the temples and under the jawline using a matt bronzer. Highlighter has been used on top of her cheekbones, down the centre of her nose and above the brows to add extra glow to Miley's face. Her lips have been kept natural but shiney.

Miley's Pixie cut has been slicked down at the sides with the front textured and swept forward and kept in place with hair creme or salt spray.

Marc Jacobs created her dark brown nail colour himself, calling it Bark!

Thoughts:

Regardless of whether you were a fan of the twerking, I don't think anyone could deny that Miley looks amazing here. This look works for her, she pulls off the androgenous look - I much prefer it to her normal peroxide blonde with a red lip. She models the clothes beautifully and looks geeky cute in the glasses. The setting and the use of the other models is very zombie apocalypse chic - love this ad campaign!
