As a Makeup Artist, it is important to keep on top of current trends in both makeup and hair. The demands of the media industry means being able to research, evaluate and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of hair and makeup styling.
Whatever your working preference, as an artist, be it in fashion, TV, film or body art, a rounded approach is needed when it comes to creative abilities as the same initial inspiration can be manifested in such a wide range of creative projects and drawing on well-practised, basic skills is essential.
In the coming weeks, I'll be exploring current catwalk trends and breaking down traditional application to create the final look - something that is invaluable as a working Makeup Artist when it comes to fashion week!
Being able to re-create a design quickly and accurately is what you are hired to do. Practice makes perfect but no two models are the same and so accounting for skin type, skin tone, face shape, eye shape and lip shape is where the fun begins :)
I'll start by researching three London catwalk looks, Burberry AW/14 and Tom Ford SS/15 and Fyodor Golan SS/15 and Marc Jacobs Ad campaign for SS/14 with Miley Cyrus and the Gucci AW/14 ad campaign.
