CHRISTOPHER BAILEY
The Designer:
Born in Yorkshire, UK, Christopher Bailey moved to London, studying at The University of Westminster and The Royal College of Art. In 1994 he became a designer for Donna Karen and then moved to Gucci in 1996 to a senior design role.
Christopher Bailey was appointed Chief Creative Officer of Burberry in November 2009, a newly created position in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the brand since his appointment at Burberry as Creative Director in May 2001.
The Collection:
Showcased 14:00 17th February 2014.
Burberry's inspiration for the collection was The Bloomsbury Girls, an association of artists, writers and intellectuals from the early 20th century and so the words du jour were Art and Individuality! This collection teamed floaty layers of overlapping prints under over-sized blanket drapes and fluffy sheepskin jackets. Slightly muted tones of bold colours swayed together accessorized with hand painted bags and shoes for that personal touch!

The Look:
The makeup and hair reflects a bit of a hippy vibe with models wearing a simple center-parted, slightly dishevelled blow dry, keeping it loose, free and not over-styled. Wendy Rowe created a soft smoky eye, going over a petal pink lid with a wash of Burberry Beauty's new aubergine.
‘It has a free-spirited vibe. It’s more of a wash of colour and it looks like they did it themselves,’ says Rowe
"I'm using a white liner inside the waterline," she explained, "which makes the eyes look huge and then pressing a mauve lipstick into the lips." . The feel is fresh but classic.
Full eyebrows also featured heavily making groomed brows a staple look going forward.
The Mood Board:
The Products:
The new Nude Blush Complete Eye Palette was used to create a wash of aubergine on the eyelid. This look was focused on the eye and tailored slightly to each girls face shape. For the base, Fresh Glow in Golden Radiance and the new Fresh Glow Fluid Foundation were used to give a radiant finish. To finish the look nails were painted with Burberry's new shade for autumn, Elderberry.Thoughts:
I really like how this look is classy and fresh but is still interesting. I never usually go without liner but I would definitely try this out for a nice day time look - I am thinking slow ramble home through the falling leaves after a Sunday lunch at the local. I love the palette used for the collection, despite there being so many colours, they work incredibly well together - someone knows his way round the colour wheel!
