Fyodor Golan - Catwalk Look S/S15

FYODOR GOLAN

The Designers:

Fyodor Podgorny studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and Golan Frydman graduated from Istituto Marangoni in London. The two met in London where they launched their label in 2011. Their combined experience includes: Alexander McQueen, Issey Miyake, Richard Nicoll & Raf Simons.

The Collection: 

Showcased at 17:00 on 12th September 2014.

Inspired by Digital Romanticism this collection was full of bright colour and geometric silhouettes, embellished with iridescent and neon plastic floral motifs. At a disused railway tunnel on the South Bank, the runway was played back on the digital pyramid seconds later in a distorted manner to translate a fast-paced visual language onto ready-to-wear pieces.

The wrap and drape of slashed geometric fabric was inspired inspired by American conceptual artist ’ Robert Morris’ allowing for movement in the garments. Simple sheath dresses came spliced with neon tape trims and sheer fabrics left little to the imagination at times!

Hair Stylist Kenna  

Makeup Artist Michelle Webb

The Look:

Makeup Artist Michelle Webb twinned a neutral toned face with some opposite contouring. A natural lip was balanced out by some of the brightest neon mascaras and neo-vintage nails.

Hair Stylist Kenna  created tousled, beachy waves (very this season) they are soft and have lots of movement. His team used the new ghd Curve® Classic Wave Wand and put in really cool, different colour grips to complement the looks at Fyodor Golan. "It’s all about being free with the grips and placing them all over.” said ghd Head of Education Jo Robertson.

The Products:

It looks from the picture below that instead of a  branded neon mascara, a Kryolan aqua colour was built up using a cotton bud to cover the lashes. Any nail brand could be used for this look, Barry M do a good range of colours at a really reasonable price - just remember for this look - the brighter the better!

Thoughts:

This look really pops, I love the design and use of colour on the eyes and nails although I do think the models look very drawn under some of the lighting - maybe that was the idea though - hence the opposite contouring! The look is bold yet doesn't draw attention away from the clothes or clash with them - this make up compliments the collection perfectly!

The collection definitely draws you in - I normally wouldn't wear a lot of the holographic pieces myself (sorry to be boring) but there are certain items that I love and the shoes are gorgeous! I really love the white dress pictured above, its a perfect example of how these designers manage to fuse sportswear into luxury womenswear. This will be a great summer look for the festies!
