Its hard to define what 'classic catwalk' makeup is these days but for me it's a beautifully done look that compliments the collection. I have researched a whole range of shows and each look is very different to the last but all use products to really bring the entire feel of the collection together.
Today in class we recreated a classic look in an hour. This is the look I was given:

Eyes:
Beginning with the eyes, select a synthetic fibre concealer brush, lift brow and place a gel liner (Mac's Blacktrack) all over the lid - working quickly to avoid the product drying out.
Use a clean eyeshadow brush and buff out the edges immediately.
Using the same concealer brush, add colour to just beneath the waterline.
Using the eyeshadow brush, pick up some black eyeshadow (Ben Nye) press in powder all over the lid.
Using a clean eyeshadow brush pick up a natural eyeshadow colour (Ben Nye Brulee) to match the skin tone and place all over any clean skin up to the brow.
Next pick up some mid and dark brown shadows and buff in where the light and dark colours meet to create some depth.
Go back in with some black shadow and go over the lower part of the blend line to knock out any fall out of brown.
Clean up underneath the eye using moisturiser on a small cotton bud.
Next take a clean concealer brush and conceal (colour correct if needed) and powder under the eye using a small fluffy brush and a fine translucent powder.
Using a flat brush, first work some black shadow into the back of your hand to prevent any fall-out and work into the lash line.
(If there is any drop-out pick up some powder and sweep it away - never blow on the model!)
Fill in the brows using eyeshadow, pencils or derma color.
Using a light beige highlighter (Mac Vanilla Pigment) under the brow and in the corner of the eyes.
Finally buff in the brown again if needed, no more product should be picked up.
Add mascara with a mini fan brush, you can use a curler on the lashes before-hand if needed.
*To finish the eyes and get that shine, I applied Vaseline all over the lids but I did this as a very last final step!
Base:
First conceal clean skin with Derma Color
Conceal under the eyes with colour D32 to conceal any blue tones
Mix up foundation base from Macquillage palettes with mixer and apply using synthetic foundation brush, blending in with a fibre brush such as Mac's 130. *Keep some of this colour on your hand.
Set concealer under the eye using a fluffy brush with translucent powder such as Mac's Prep & Prime.
Using the foundation shade as your guide, mix up highlighter colour (2 shades lighter) and contour colour (2 shades darker) and apply to face on the forehead, temples, cheekbones, nose and jawline. Highlight first then add your contours.
Blend together without moving them about too much.
Lightly powder using large powder brush.
Using a matt bronzer enhance the contours, giving that very strong sun kissed look as shown above.
Work in Mac Strobe Cream over highlights using an eyeshadow brush.
Lips & Cheeks:
I added a light dusting of peach blusher to the cheeks.
I used a nude lip colour to complete the look.

My Attempt:
I was really happy with the recreation of this look, it pulled together lots of techniques we had learned about separately into a final look that could be completed within the hour. The black isn't quite as dark or glossy as in the original so I am wondering which products would have been used to create this. I am really happy with the skin and rest of the look though, it was fun to do :)
